San Mateo County Fair

I'm not particularly proud of any of the pictures in this set, but right now my urge to scrapbook is overpowering my critical eye.

While shooting in the petting zoo, a goat licked the side of my lens. Do you think that voids the warranty?

Fire in the Hills

A uniquely California experience: standing on a gorgeous beach watching a wildfire in the hills, listening to the waves and the seagulls... and the rapping hippies...

The Lockheed fire is the biggest in Santa Cruz County in 20 years, and has forced the evacuation of thousands of residents. Luckly nobody has been hurt and (so far) no homes have burned.

Philz Coffee

We had our afternoon coffee at Philz before driving to the forest fire. Normal couples have morning coffee, but we're not so good at mornings. And sane couples would drive away from a forest fire, not toward it, but that's just how we roll.

This lovely woman was serenading us at the coffee shop. I can't say I was thrilled with her music, but the light was too pleasant to pass up the chance to sneak a shot with my 70-200mm f/2.8. Actually, "sneak" is probably the wrong word for something the size of a football.

Phish at Shoreline

Saw Phish at Shoreline with Calista. The place was packed. Lots of dreadlocks, patchouli, and pot. Great time.
